Portland House was constructed some twenty five years ago as the Headquarters of the Blue Circle Cement Company and its construction in exposed aggregate concrete walls and concrete roof tiles reflected the connection.

The weather however had badly affected the external appearance and the new owners employed WCL to carry out a full external refurbishment.

All external surfaces were power washed including roofs, walls and all concrete pavings. The hidden deep gutters were relined and almost 3 miles of mastic were replaced. Access was a problem generally and this was overcome using mobile hoists, harnesses and safety lines, scaffold, scaffold towers and even a 70 tonne mobile crane.
